This block of 6 art classes held in the Annex at Thirsk Town Hall will be using a variety of art mediums taught through using your observational and taught skills in an inclusive, supportive environment. A combination of demonstration, practice and supported guidance. Developing your own style encouraged! : )
Engaging and interesting topics weekly. 1-1 support
Bring your own art materials. Work in the same materials as the weekly demo or choose your own materials.
Supportive, encouraging environment, help to build your confidence whilst enjoying the creative process.
A great class to join in the evening for time just for you, keeping your brain active and focused, to relax after work and be part of a class who also enjoy art.

But since I started to learn different techniques and skills from the classes , I have really enjoyed my art . It’s a lovely relaxing group of people , with a wide range of ability and skill levels . I always wanted to be an artist from a child but like many people I was detered from doing so full time so I used my creativity in other ways in my jobs , kept drawing and then dabbled with the new art materials and never really knew how to use them. One good thing about the pandemic is that I have been concentrating on what brings me joy.. doing art and learning from an amazing teacher ! It is so individual what we do do but Becky draws it out of us and week by week builds our confidence by giving us challenges so we can learn to fly on our own. It’s the best thing I have done for me for a long time and the people are so supportive, not competitive , as we are all at our own stages and of course the attention to detail of the classes , information and homemade cake are first class. Becky’s Tuesday evening art classes are a real joy to be part of, learning and experimenting under Becky’s warm and encouraging guidance in a broad range of artistic styles and media with interesting and varied weekly topics. It is a very friendly and supportive group of local folk, and everyone is free to develop their own personal style at one’s own pace, no pressure. The added support of on-line tutorials is an extra bonus, plus the option to participate via Zoom if unable to make the class in person. The homemade cakes are the icing on it! I would highly recommend these classes, whether a total beginner or a more experienced artist.

I joined Becky’s group this term and I have to admit I was rather nervous. I had not completed any Art since I was 15 and that was some considerable time ago!!
I had worked with children in my teaching role but was worried that I had no techniques which I could employ.
I did not need to worry. The group is so supportive and Becky is an amazing teacher.
She provides the right mix of support and challenge with a range of techniques needed to improve.
